Educational Leadership is basically an applied aspect of the generic concept of administration, management and supervision. When we apply the concept of school leadership to solve the problem and enhance the efficiency of education sector. The emergence of scientific management movement has tremendously extended the scope of educational leadership. The rapid expansion and changes that have been taking place in education, have led to public authorities to assuming and increasing role in the leadership of schools.
Leadership helps in defining the purposes to solve the conflict between innovation and tradition. Leadership is considered important because it insures the cooperation, participation, intervention and involvement of others in the effective achievement of pre-determined objectives.
Educational leadership is an indispensable tool for the implementation of policies in education. Educational leader carries out structured set of operations. The purpose of the school leadership essentially to help solve the problems of educational development, by making the best possible use of the available resources in a changing environment, growing steadily more complex. To meet the challenges of the 21st Century, there is an urgent need to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of head teachers as educational leaders for improving the quality of education. It is upon the school leadership perspective that this research focuses. It provides a clear frame work which will enable school leaders to develop leadership qualities among teachers and students.
