What is Abstract

The abstract is a brief overview of the research report. Its fundamental purpose is to present a brief introduction to the objectives of the research, research procedure, out comes and recommendations in a manner that a common reader who is unfamiliar with the technical terms may also understand and anticipate the present research.Every institution has its own rules about the span and contents of the abstracts. But generally it spreads no more than two pages and consists of two hundred to five hundred words.
In the abstract paragraphs are presented without any indent. The word “Abstract” is printed in bold upper case above the paragraph. Report writers sometimes suffer from ambiguity while writing the abstract. Lack of clarify about its format results in a poorly managed abstract.
Abstract is a formal, systematic and planned summary which a writer prepares for his completed articles, thesis or document and for showing real picture of the work.  Abstract is an important tool for the readers who want to maintain   a lot of information and knowledge about conceptual paper and research work.
An abstract is also short description which narrates a large research work. The abstract is an essential part of a thesis, dissertation or research work that provides a brief summary of the thesis. Sometimes it is a mini version of a thesis. What is in it, it should be provided a brief summary of the main section of the thesis. In short, it is a summary of the “information which the document contains. An executive summary is also known as an abstract. An abstract is a brief overview, not an evaluative summary of a longer document. There are many types of abstracts such as descriptive, informative and executive summary.
